2021: Starting with an experienced founding team

To address growing labor shortages in healthcare, long-time collaborators and colleagues, Dr. Tim Lasswell, Nima Zamani, and John Van Leeuwen created Cobionix. Zamani, known for his expertise in robotics and AI, and Dr. Lasswell, renowned for his innovation in medical devices, combined their technical and medical insights. They were complemented by Van Leeuwen's executive experience in growing companies from ideation to IPO.

To demonstrate the possibilities of our robotic technology, we created the world’s first autonomous robot capable of performing an intramuscular injection for vaccine administration. It was built to prove that with the latest technologies, we could build an autonomous robotic solution to perform medical procedures and help relieve the labor shortages in healthcare.

2023: Expanding Healthcare Robotics Leadership Team
To continue our growth and momentum, Matthew Sefati, Guy Hoffman and Stuart Kozlick were brought on as COO, CFO and Commercialization Advisor respectively. Sefati, previously co-founder of a venture-backed AI company, brings years of experience commercializing medical devices and leading high-performing teams. Hoffman brings over 30 years of financial experience advising technology companies and previously managed a $4B fund. Kozlick brings a winning track record in the medical robotics industry, having previously led the medical robotics division at Kinova and played a pivotal role in establishing the joint venture with Auris Health (now J&J).
